Our Mobile Eye Care camps have tested the eyesight of over 5213 children and adults. The Optometry team, which included volunteers from private optometrists and staff and students from Melbourne University traveled across many villages in Laos and Sri Lanka. We have provided over 4000 free pairs of glasses to needy people in remote areas.
The potential of this support is endless:
- The women can now weave their fabric, embroider their garments and sort out the rice grains.
- The men can continue with their farming, fishing and perform tasks requiring adequate eyesight.
- Children can continue with their study and learning without stumbling blocks, maximising their full potential in the community.
